IDA Business Plan

IDA participants are required to complete a business plan that reflects the operations and complexity of their business. The purpose of a business plan is to help you think about the type of business you want to start:  products or services you will sell, your customers, marketing to your customers, and how will you generate sufficient cash flow to make the business profitable.
Acceptable business plans will incorporate the following:

  • Executive Summary
  • General company description
  • Products and services
  • Marketing plan
  • Operational plan
  • Management and organization
  • Personal financial statement
  • Startup expenses and capitalization
  • Financial plan
  • 12 month cash flow projection

eDev offers business plan classes throughout the year. Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE) has business plan and cash flow projection templates available to download.  These business plan templates walk you through the following topics:

We encourage our IDA participants to finish their business plan approximately two months before they expect to complete their savings.
